Breast lift (having your breasts lifted)
Weight loss, breastfeeding and the passage of time can cause your breasts to lose firmness. If you suffer from drooping breasts, a breast lift (breast enhancement) a possible solution for you. If you wish, this can be combined with a breast reduction or - in a second operation after four months - with a breast augmentation with prosthesis.
The consultation
Prior to the breast correction, Dr Schiettecatte will discuss with you how your wishes can be realised. In doing so, he also uses the Crisalix 3D simulation software. This allows you to look at different options prior to the procedure and also get an idea of the expected result. Request a free consultation now. After the consultation, you will receive a customised quote.
The breast lift
If you want to have your breasts lifted, your breasts will be reshaped evenly and your nipple repositioned centrally on the breast. To do this, Dr Schiettecatte makes an incision around the areola and a vertical incision from the nipple to the inframammary fold. The excess skin is then removed and the nipple is placed upwards. The wound is sutured with fine thread to minimise scarring.
After lifting your breasts (recovery)
Results are already visible immediately after the breast lift, although it takes about a year for your breasts to take their final shape. That is also when the final assessment of the result takes place.
Immediately after surgery, your breasts are bandaged. Sometimes drains are also placed so that wound fluid can be drained easily. The drains are removed after about three days, the stitches after about two weeks. At first, your breasts will be painful and swollen. The scars will also still be red and swollen, although this will subside after some time.
After about a year, the scars have turned into thin white lines, especially around the areola. Due to its position below the breast fold, the vertical line is less visible.
Your wound will heal fastest by wearing a special bra day and night for six weeks after surgery, which you can then replace with a firm sports bra. Dr Schiettecatte will tell you more about this. Once the wounds have healed, you can wear regular lingerie.
Risks and complications
Before you undergo surgery, Dr Schiettecatte will discuss the possible risks with you. Although complications with breast surgery are rare, it is possible that you may experience post-operative bleeding or infection. Also, the scar may thicken, or the sensitivity of your breast may decrease permanently. Therefore, you will be well informed beforehand about what can go wrong and what you can do yourself to reduce the risks.
