Plastic surgery is more than a profession for me: it is a vocation in which technique, aesthetics and empathy come together. I specialise in breast augmentation, breast reduction, upper eyelid and lower eyelid surgery, the neck lift and liposuction.
That's why I chose cosmetic plastic surgery
Even during my medical training, I saw how cosmetic plastic surgery could make a big difference in patients' lives. Whereas at first glance plastic surgery may seem to be about vanity, beauty ideals and people's desire to look more beautiful, this specialisation goes much deeper for my patients and me:
- Improving the quality of life by interventions such as breast reduction, reducing women's back pain, or a upper eyelid surgery, allowing people to see better again and feel fitter.
- Patients help themselves confident feeling, by overcoming functional limitations and enabling a more attractive self-image.
- The ongoing innovation in the profession, such as special surgical techniques for faster recovery and minimal scarring, and innovative technologies such as Crisalix 3D simulations.
In addition to my practice in the Netherlands, I have also been supporting the Leprosy mission with volunteer work, by operating on people in Myanmar whose bodies were disfigured by leprosy. This enables them to regain their livelihoods, for example by regaining better use of their hands and feet.
