For the past four months, I have been using a new technique for breast augmentation. This technique comes from Paris and was developed by Dr Eric Auclair. It is also called 'French Touch' called. Its great advantage is that the scar from the surgery is in the armpit and not near the breasts. In this article, I would like to tell you a bit more about it.

Breast surgery through the armpit

In French Touch breast augmentation, the operation takes place through the armpit, via keyhole surgery. This leaves the skin of the breast untouched and intact. This is in contrast to traditional breast augmentation. This involves working through an incision in the fold of skin under the breast, or next to the nipple.

Breast augmentation with keyhole surgery

French Touch surgery takes place under general anaesthesia. First of all, I make a small incision in the armpit. Through this incision, I insert a thin surgical steel tube (laparoscope) under the breast. This instrument consists of a surgical blade, a grasper and a video camera. The image of the situation under the skin is projected on a monitor. Based on this image, I perform the operation (videoscopy).

Lipofilling for the best results

Through the opening in the armpit, I place a not-too-large implant above the pectoral muscle and under the pleura (subfascial). I pave the way for the prosthesis, allowing me to place it in the right place. If necessary, I can further enhance the result by lipofilling the breast edges. This way, the edges of the prosthesis are not visible or noticeable. For lipofilling, I use the macrofill technique.

Scar-free breast augmentation

Finally, I suture the wound under the armpit with very fine thread, keeping scar tissue to a minimum. The scar is hidden in the armpit and therefore not visible. An additional advantage of this technique is that the prosthesis does not damage the muscle and is still well covered. This is because the implant is situated under a membrane beneath the mammary gland tissue. The results of the French Touch method are really rewarding. Thus, you will have a breast augmentation without visible scars.
