Breast augmentation Dual Plane
What is breast augmentation Dual Plane with round implants?
In breast augmentation Dual Plane with round prostheses, the prosthesis is placed partially behind the pectoral muscle. In the more than 25 years of my career as a plastic surgeon, I have performed more than 4,000 Dual Plane operations. In practice, we use 3D simulation software (Crisalix), to choose the right implant together based on a visualisation of the possible outcome of the surgery.
The consultation and an estimate
Dr Schiettecatte is the plastic surgeon treating you at Kliniek Veldhoven. For your Dual Plane breast augmentation, he will first conduct a personal intake interview with you. During this interview, you will discuss together your wishes and expectations, and see what is possible in your situation. You will be explained about the procedure itself, the recovery process and the expected result. Do you have examples of breasts you like? Feel free to bring them along to the consultation. Dr Schiettecatte will be happy to think along with you. Would you like to schedule a no-obligation consultation? Then please contact us. After the consultation, you will receive an offer tailored to your needs.
The Dual Plane breast augmentation with implant behind the pectoral muscle
In Dual Plane breast augmentation, Dr Schiettecatte places the implant through the breast fold, behind or partly behind the pectoral muscle. This technique is particularly suitable if you have relatively little mammary gland tissue or thin, translucent skin. This prevents the breast implant from being visible or palpable at the top of the breast after surgery. The scar is barely noticeable. The breast muscle covers the implant at the top, while the underside is supported by your own breast tissue. As a result, the edges of the implant are not visible or noticeable. Moreover, this method ensures a stable and natural-looking result.
Risks and complications of Dual Plane breast augmentation
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks and possible complications with Dual Plane breast augmentation. These include infection, post-bleeding, capsular contracture (hardening around the implant), sensation changes in the nipples or breasts and, in rare cases, displacement or rupture of the implant. Although these complications are rare, it is important that you are well informed and know what to expect. Dr Schiettecatte will discuss these risks in detail with you during the consultation.
Aftercare for Dual Plane breast augmentation
After Dual Plane breast augmentation, proper aftercare is essential for a successful recovery and optimal results. You will be given a special post-operative bra to support the breasts and help them heal. For the first few weeks, you should avoid physical exertion and lifting. Regular monitoring at the clinic will ensure that recovery is well monitored and that you can discuss any questions or concerns in a timely manner. You will receive clear instructions on wound care, pain management and resuming your daily activities. Dr Schiettecatte and his team are ready to guide you throughout the recovery process.
